Elliptical Machines for Sale

As mentioned in our article, “Best Elliptical Machines,” there are many manufacturers, and a long list of different models to consider when looking for quality elliptical machines for sale. An elliptical trainer that is well suited for one individual however, may be ill-suited for someone else.

As with many products, some of the top manufacturers offer excellent quality, and you can probably find an elliptical trainer to satisfy your needs, and budget, buying by name brand alone.

However, it will serve you well to become at least a little familiar with some of the features of the many elliptical machines for sale. Most will have an assortment of programming options, but you may pay more, or have to look to certain manufacturers for other options such as a built-in wireless heart rate monitor, a cooling fan, articulating foot pads or adjustable stride length. These are fairly common, but just be sure to compare quality machines that are in your price range before making a decision. Most elliptical machines for sale at Amazon are eligible for their “super saver shipping,” but who wants to repackage and return-ship a several hundred pound item ?

Although an elliptical trainer can be purchased for just a few hundred dollars, “let the buyer beware” definitely applies here. Lightweight, flimsy construction and less-than-smooth, fluid motion are often part of the package when buying the cheapest models. There isn't necessarily a fixed amount of money that must be spent in order to get quality. Even with the vast amount of elliptical machines for sale, you should expect to spend over $500 at the bare minimum, and probably closer to $1,000 for a quality machine, unless buying used of course. These figures are estimates of course, and vary between manufacturers. Schwinn offers some decent quality machines that are getting good user reviews, and are reasonably priced also. The warranty on some of the lesser-priced Schwinn models however, don't have the coverage of the better quality machines from some of the other manufacturers.

You should take serious note of the warranty as one of the first things to look at on any model that you're considering for purchase. A manufacturer that offers a lifetime warranty on the frame usually has a sturdier built machine that will stand up to many years of normal household use. Most of the elliptical machines for sale also normally have different warranty terms for the parts/electronics, and labor.

As mentioned previously, a smooth motion is one defining characteristic to look for. One reasonably priced machine that offers such movement, an excellent warranty, and sturdy build is the Sole E55. It comes with a 27 pound flywheel, and has a quality ECB resistance system. The machine has a lifetime warranty on the frame and brake, 5 years for parts/electronics, and the labor warranty is 2 years. This is a much better warranty than some of the lower cost elliptical trainers have. It, along with the other Sole elliptical trainers, also has excellent user reviews.sole_e55_elliptical-exercise_machine_image

Some features that are available on various models are; a good selection of resistance/programming options, wireless heart rate monitor, an adjustable stride length, water bottle holder, magazine rack, articulating footpads and MP3/iPod integration. Obviously, some of these features might not seem that important to everyone, but could be very desirable for others.

One of the common complaints in lesser quality elliptical trainers is flimsy construction, as previously mentioned. Even if you save $500 on a low priced model, only to have it break after a short time you've bought nothing but a problem. Among their many good features, excellent warranty, and reasonable prices, the Sole machines also offer very rugged construction offering a good, solid foundation.

You should also take note of the weight capacity of any of the elliptical machines that you're interested in. The Sole E55 has a weight capacity of 375 pounds, and I know of one owner that is 6'5” and 275 pounds, and he praises the quality and sturdiness of his machine. His entire family uses the Sole E55 on a daily basis and has never had a single problem with it. You should probably not even consider an elliptical trainer with a weight capacity under 275 pounds. Even though you might not weight that much, it's indicative of lighter construction.

It would take many pages to list and describe the many elliptical trainers for sale that are worth consideration for home use. There are also commercial-quality elliptical trainers that are built to the highest standards, but for the average home user, the cost probably outweighs the benefits of these very high priced machines. Most are designed for the extreme conditions of a commercial gym.

Although we mentioned but one manufacturer, and one model of elliptical trainer here, you can surely find an affordable unit that will have the features you desire.

Some other manufacturers that you may want to consider are Precor, SchwinnSmooth and Lifecore. These represent some of the better quality manufacturers, but there are others that manufacture quality elliptical machines for sale. Just be sure to comparison shop, read plenty of user reviews, and take a serious look at Amazon for the elliptical trainer that you decide is right for you. As with most other products, Amazon often offers the best price, availability  selection, and with their free "Super Saving Shipping," the savings can be impressive.

Just remember, the best elliptical machines can be extremely expensive, but there is no need to spend that kind of money. Good quality elliptical exercise equipment can be very affordable,
